The flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come, and the cooing of turtledoves fills the air. Song of Solomon 2:12

I so enjoy birds. I’ve already written about the hawks and eagles. Today though I’ve been thinking about the quail in my backyard. They are so fun to watch as they hunt for food. At the same time they are watching for dangers.
One spring I had a mama and daddy quail with about 14 babies. My granddaughter called babies rolling rocks, as that is what they looked like to her.
The daddy would hunt and peck and his little ones would be right at his feet. Then dad would move a few feet, some of the babies would follow, but then all of a sudden the others would realize he wasn’t with them and run toward the dad. Mom would always be bringing up the end, making sure no one was left behind.
There would be other days that dad would sit on the fence watching for danger while his little family pecked around below him. I could spend hours watching them.

Morning Father!
You have shown Yourself again in nature! I am always amazed at how You work to show Your love to me.
You are like the daddy quail. Always searching for me, never letting me get too far away. You show me where to hunt for those treasures of Yours in the Bible. You are always asking me to stay close to You.
Then there are other times You are above me, allowing me move on my own. Always ready to guide me back to the safe area with You.
You are also like the mama, watching from behind to make sure I don’t get lost.
Father, You surround me every moment of each day. Loving and caring for me as no other has. How can I not praise You for being my LORD!
I love You!
Amen
