December 7

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord.  Jeremiah 29:11-14

Isn’t it wonderful to know that you serve a God that has a plan just for you! Knowing it’s a good plan, a plan for a future and hope. His plan for your future began with the baby whose birth we celebrate this month. That’s right, His plan is Jesus Christ. Jesus told us that He was the way, the truth, and the light. No one can come to God except through Him. So to know God’s plan for your life, you need to know His Son. Have you asked Christ to be your King? If you haven’t, why don’t you journey to the manger now? Come and see the newborn King, proclaim that He is the Son of God, born to die for your sins, the risen Savior and reigning Lord of your life. Let the flag of joy fly over your heart, showing that that King is in residence!

Jesus, I realize just how much I need You. Forgive me for the many times I sin and break Your heart. Wash me with Your blood and help me to become the person You see in me. Thank You for coming into my life and setting me free! Amen.

Seventh-Day Activities

In this season where we’re trying to help our children remember to keep Christ as their focus, ask them what they would like to plan for today. Remember, you are the parent and can direct their plans, but let them take ownership in what your activity will be today.

Be sure to talk to them about the scripture today and how our Jesus has plans for their life also. Be sure to assure them they will be good plans for the future.

One way to work with them on planning is drawing a map of what they would like to do today and what they need to do. Start with drawing a map of your home and where they will eat, brush their teeth, and dress. Include all activities they are required to do. Older children can draw where they would like to go today, the route to take, but most importantly the route back home. At dinner ask them how well they stayed on plan according to their map. Did their plans have to change because of others? Or did they choose to change their plans? Then talk to them about how the Bible is God’s plan for us. It will keep us on the right path and will bring us home to Him.
