All right then, the LORD Himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a Son and will call Him Immanuel, which means “God is with us.”
Isaiah 7:14
Immanuel, God is with us. How completely awesome is this statement! Imagine: we serve a God that is with us, not just out there somewhere, but with us! But it wasn’t always this way. There once was a time when people had to journey to Jerusalem to worship God. They had to make sacrifices to be in the presence of God. But then God moved into humanity in the form of a baby. And all history changed. God made the choice to live with us. God made the choice to sacrifice His only Son for us. All we have to do is make the choice to believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, as our Lord and Savior.
Spend time at the manger, get to know this child, hold Him, talk to Him, and let Him become your Lord and Savior. He did this because He wants to be your Immanuel.
Jesus, thank You so much for being my LORD. How wonderful it is to think You want to live with me! The God of the universe desires to be with me. I love You, Jeuss! Amen.
Fifteenth-Day Activities
We all travel at some time, even if it’s just to the grocery store! How are the wise men doing on their journey? Talk with your children and ask them how many people they think may have traveled with the wise men. How many miles might they have traveled in a day? If you have a wagon, let the children fill it up with some of their items, and travel down the street in a single-file, caravanning. Bring any other animals you may have for your nativity to the stable today. Talk to your children about where they may have been, in the field, in the pasture. How does God take care of these animals; how does He provide for them? Help your children to understand that God created these animals and will take care of them.
Play the name game! Choose one of Jesus’s names and have your children come up with something from creation that starts with each letter of His name. Example:
Shepherd
S-sheep
H-hills
E-eagles
P-prairie dogs
H-hyenas
E-elk
R-rivers
D-dolphins
