December 22

But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are Mine. Isaiah 43:1

Did you realize that Jesus came with a price tag? And the price was so exorbitant that you would never have been able to pay the price. But in His compassion and mercy, our Lord paid the price of the ransom Himself. It’s hard to accept at this time of the year that this baby will be the sacrifice for all mankind. But even in His innocence, we must never forget His ultimate goal. He came into our world to pay the price so that we have the opportunity to go into His. And the most amazing thought? He has called you by name; you are His.

Father, thank You for paying for my ransom. My mind can’t understand how the God of the universe knows me and desires to be with me, but I will dance with joy to give You all the glory You deserve! Amen

Twenty-Second-Day Activities

The time is close; the Savior is about to be born. Bring your shepherds to the stable along with any of the sheep that have traveled with them. Talk to your children about how the shepherds must have felt when they saw the Christ child. What would have been special for the shepherds? Do you think they would have felt at home in the stable?

Maybe tonight you and your family can go caroling around your neighborhood. It seems to be an activity we so often forget and can be so enjoyable. Better yet, why not get a group of friends to go with you and maybe have hot chocolate when you return home?

Some of the best Christmas gifts we can give are memories. For when the stuff gets used or broken or passed on to someone else, the memory of sharing time with friends will always be with you.

Christ came so you can have a relationship with Him. He also desires that you have relationships with others. It takes time, planning, and sometimes hard work. But the blessings of being with others will far outweigh the efforts you put in.
