For the Lent season I would like to share some of my thoughts with you. There will still be scripture and prayer but in between maybe something that will encourage you to grow in your relationship with Christ!
Be blessed,
Carol
(Jesus said), But I know Him because I come from Him, and He sent me to you. John 7:29 NLT
Have you ever wanted to be invited to a gathering,
but there was no invitation extended?
Have you ever wanted to learn more about a subject,
but didn’t quite know how to go about starting the education?
Have you ever wanted to know about Jesus,
but not sure where to start?
Start now, today, this moment.
Jesus has come to you with an invitation to learn more about Him. He knows the Father because He comes from the Father. Imagine, God sent Jesus to you. You have been singled out to receive Jesus, to have a rich, personal relationship with Him. I would like for you to think on the fact that He wants you.
Through the next few weeks, commit to learn from Jesus and devote your life to the King of Kings and soar on the wings of eagles!
So how do we do this? One day at a time.
Today let’s start with something simple, a memory verse. Not all of us are good at memorizing, but if I can do it, so can you. It will take some time and determination, but it can also be a fun and exciting time.
Get a 3×5 card, sticky note, or just a piece of paper. Write today’s scripture on it. If you don’t care for the New Living Translation, write it out in a translation that you do like. Be sure to write John 7:29 somewhere on it. You will be carrying this paper with you wherever you go today.
Commit to read it out loud at least 5 times through the day. If life gets in the way and you can’t remember to do it, set a timer on the stove or your cell phone. If you’re with a friend, challenge them to memorize it with you. If you have children, they would love to help and what a great way to teach them your dependency on Jesus.
Another way to memorize, is to put the scripture to music. Make up your own tune or put it to something you already know. However you decided to do it, make it fun!
Some people will learn by writing it numerous times. Keep trying until you find your way!
You can also try journaling. It can be anything from a piece of paper, to a spiral notebook, to a nice bound book. Write the scripture in your journal and think about what it means to you. Pray about it and ask Jesus to help you understand all there is. Let this become a special time to share your heart with Him.
Walk with Jesus and live in the expectancy of His presence.
Father, You have honored me to be in a relationship with You through Your Son, Jesus Christ. As the ashes are placed on my forehead, help me to remember my mortality and desperate need for reconciliation with You. I desire to learn from You and to be filled with the joy of Your presence every day!
Amen
