Look Into His Eyes

Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” Mark 10:27 NLT

Imagine sitting in the circle with the other disciples. The fire snaps and sparks fly into the air. You have just witnessed the rich young man talking with Jesus, asking Him what he must do to get into heaven. What the young man was told, he was unable to do. Sell all his possessions and give the money to the poor. He could not totally trust in Christ, he trusted more in his possessions.

At this point Christ looks intently at His followers. He might have even leaned forward to get their attention. Everything about His body language says, listen to Me, this is very important. He is reaching out to each one so they will pay attention.

What did He tell them? By yourself you will never be able to do it. With Me, you will be able to do anything I ask of you.

Do what? In this scripture it’s about getting into heaven. We will never be good enough, righteous enough, even if we are the best person who walked this world, we will never get to heaven on our own. We need Jesus to get us there.

Yet, there is a lot of life between here and heaven. Days that will be joy-filled, days that will be tear-filled. Days that seem nothing new will ever happen and days that so much is going on your head spins. Jesus is leaning forward and looking into your eyes right now, telling you, I’m here and want to do this day with you. It’s important for Me to spend this it with you.

Has Jesus looked into your eyes, asking you to pay attention to what He has to share with you? Have you paused today to gaze into His eyes and receive His love? Take a moment right now and listen to what He is telling you. Your day might be easy; it might be the hardest day of your life. Jesus wants to do it with you!

He wants you to know that you can’t do it by yourself. It is impossible, even in the best of times. However, it will be possible with Him. He wants you to know He loves you and desires to be with you, wherever you are.

What in your life do you have trouble turning over to Christ? Family, job, finances? Whatever it might be, realize that you are in that circle of disciples and Jesus is telling you He will be with you and get you through.

Jesus,
sometimes it’s hard to look into Your eyes as I am so sinful. Yet, You tell me that even with my sin I can be forgiven and continue to walk with You. Slow me down today, to look into Your eyes. I want to remember that You are with me. And if You are with me, who can be against me!
Amen
