Not Created To Stand Alone

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Ecclesiastics 4:9-12 NLT

Have you ever felt alone? Most of us have at some time or another. The Good News is you don’t have to be alone. Jesus wants to be your constant companion, but He has also placed people around you so you don’t have to be alone.

I live in Tucson, Arizona and in the midst of the Saguaro cactus. I am so fortunate to live in an area that is the only place on earth that they grow, the Southwest part of the U.S and Northern Mexico.

God created these cactus to be a majestic signature of His creation. They grow many years, sucking up the water when it falls, continuing to stand through years of drought, and surviving where little else can. It takes up to 75 years before they will grow their first ‘arm’. They twist and turn to accommodate the surroundings. They become homes for birds and when they die, the inside is wood like and they become art in our homes.

From June to September most of the yearly rainfall happens. Some years are good and some are not. In the good years, the Saguaro look very plump and fat, they soak up the water. They will be able to survive even when rain doesn’t fall. That’s the way God designed them.

That’s not the way God designed you.

You were made to be in a relationship first with Jesus and second with others. You were created to need daily bread, daily time in His Word. You were programed to spend time talking to Him, in prayer. You weren’t created to go for long periods of time without connecting to Jesus or fellow followers. You will dry up and not be fruitful for your King.

In the next few days I encourage you to spend time and talk to Jesus, read His scriptures and think on what it means to you. If you come across a scripture that makes you read over twice, write it down and take it with you. Try to glean all you can from His Word.

I would also encourage you to seek out a friend to walk with as you grow in Christ. Try to get in a small group, ask around your church to see where a group might meet that you could join. If you already have a small group, watch for those who need to find a home and invite them. Learn to pray together and discuss what you are learning.

Remember, you were not created to stand alone.

Jesus,
You have blessed me so much with those you have placed around me. I thank You for knowing my needs and providing for them even before I know I need them. They are such special people to me LORD, please walk with them today, bless them in a very special way. Help me to remember that I’m not in this life alone. Not only do I have You, I have those who will guide me through, pray me through and see me through all the days of my life. How gracious You are my King. I love You so very much.
Amen
