Those who wait for perfect weather will never plant seeds; those who look at every cloud will never harvest crops.
Ecclesiastes 11:4 NCV
Time management is always a challenge for most of us. We put too much on our list and forget to check the time. More importantly, we forget to check with our Jesus.
We always wake up in the morning with good intentions. Today I will watch what I’m eating. I will exercise today, without fail. I will read a story to my children before lunch. I will get some Bible reading done before I go to bed.
In just a minute.
Before we know it, the minutes are all gone and there’s the start of another day.
I find myself waiting for that ‘perfect’ moment. Some quiet time. For inspiration to hit.
I think that our LORD is telling us in this scripture that if we wait those ‘perfect’ moments, for the ‘perfect’ quiet time or for inspiration to hit, we will be waiting for a very long time.
Jesus doesn’t wait for us to go to Him, He comes to us. He continues to ask everyday for time together. He is around in the imperfect times even as well as the perfect ones. He is available in the noisy moment as well as the quiet time. He is pouring inspiration into each of us with every tick of the clock. Problem is, we’re not listening. We’re too busy. We don’t listen or watch for where Jesus is leading us.
So how do we make this adjustment in our lives?
As you walk closer to the cross today, ask Jesus to move closer to your thoughts. Ask Him to give you His vision, to see Him in everyday activities. Ask for His hearing, so you will hear His corrections as well as His encouragement. Then be prepared for Him to respond. Do whatever it takes to keep Jesus on your mind. Carry around a scripture on a 3×5 card all day and work at memorizing it. When you lay down to sleep, think on that scripture and what it means to you. In the morning, ask Jesus to help you live that scripture.
Jesus came to enjoy some harvest time with you. But you can’t enjoy the harvest without some tending and nurturing.
Jesus, I thank You so much for Your sacrifice on the cross. You gave Your life for me, so I can be with You now and enjoy Your presence. Since the beginning of time, it has been Your desire and passion just to be with Your children in close fellowship. I long to be with You today, even if I’m busy. Show me how to prioritize my day so You will be first, not just in the morning but throughout the day. I can’t understand the love You have for me, to die in my place, but I want to be in a close relationship and proclaim You as my LORD and Savior!
Amen
