Know Who You Trust

That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.
2 Timothy 1:12 NLT

Trust. A difficult word for some of us to accept. An even more difficult word to put into action. Then the scripture goes on to tell us to trust in Him. No name, no description and apparently He isn’t even here because it says at some time He’s going to return! How do we even begin to understand this scripture, let alone trust what it says?

We trust because we know the One who calls us to trust in Him, Jesus Christ. If you don’t know Jesus, if you haven’t come to Him, you will have a hard time trusting Him.

Stop right now and listen, He’s calling to you, He is just outside your heart knocking, asking you to open the door and let Him in. You and you alone have this choice to make. No one can do it for you; no one is going to make you. But, if or when you do open your heart to Jesus, you too will learn to trust in the One you will come to know. Is there a blessing in learning to trust Him? You bet! There is a peace that doesn’t make sense to this world and a joy that cannot be extinguished!

So as we take another step towards Easter, how are you going to trust in Jesus? What one action are you going to take today to get to know Him better? You might try reading John, the first chapter. Talk to Jesus as you read. Ask Him to give you His wisdom and understanding of His Word, even if you think you know it already. It’s called the Living Word because each time you read a verse, the Spirit will enlighten you with something new. Over all this, talk to Jesus through the day. Some people will say it’s prayer, but you know what? It’s all the same thing. Talk to Him as if He is your companion, about

situations that arise through the day. Ask Him to be with others as you come in contact with them.

When we come to realize that we desperately need a Redeemer, that we need our Jesus, we will start down the road of trusting.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Many in this world have not asked You to be in their lives. They have knowledge about You but have hesitated to let You be in their life. I’m not sure why, but maybe it’s because of the trust thing. I guess you can’t trust some one you don’t know about, on a personal level. So Jesus, I ask that You be active in their lives, encouraging them to really want to know You. We all have sinned and hurt You. We come understand now that we can’t fix ours sins ourselves. Help us all to understand what Your grace is to us, so please come into our lives and let us learn from You.
Amen
