One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. Exodus 3:1 NLT
Moses remained there on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord wrote the terms of the covenant—the Ten Commandments—on the stone tablets. When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the Lord. So when Aaron and the people of Israel saw the radiance of Moses’ face, they were afraid to come near him. But Moses called out to them and asked Aaron and all the leaders of the community to come over, and he talked with them. Then all the people of Israel approached him, and Moses gave them all the instructions the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai. When Moses finished speaking with them, he covered his face with a veil. But whenever he went into the Tent of Meeting to speak with the Lord, he would remove the veil until he came out again. Then he would give the people whatever instructions the Lord had given him, and the people of Israel would see the radiant glow of his face. So he would put the veil over his face until he returned to speak with the Lord. Exodus 34:28-35 NLT
What our Lord wanted with Moses, He wants with us, even today, some 5,000 years later. Like Moses, we have choices to make, so let’s look at three wonderful insights from this scripture.
First: Moses saw the burning bush. He might have looked at the bush, wondering if his eyes were playing a trick on him. Or had he spent too much time in the sun?
At this point, Moses had a choice to make: does he move closer to the bush, to see what was going on, or, was it a trap and he should stay away.
He made the choice: he wanted to get a closer look. He wanted to get closer to see what it was about. It was a choice that changed his life. He was about to meet the Creator of the Universe.
Second: Moses spent 40 days, count them, 40 days, with our Lord. During that time he neither ate or drank. God took care of all his needs while he was with Him. Moses was given the The Commandments, God wrote them down, so Moses just had to sit there and be in His presence.
Third: when Moses came down from the mountain, his face shone. He had stayed long enough and close enough, that he had picked up the glory of God, it reflected on his face.
Now I have some questions for you to think about today: Do you see God from a distance?
Have you been aware of Him there, just on the outer circle of your life?
Are you curious about Him?
Do you want to know more about Him?
Do you desire to be closer to Him?
Do you shine with His love after being in His presence?
Does the joy of the Lord reflect that you have been with Him?
Every morning you have a choice to make.
Do I take the time and go closer to my LORD or just rush right by Him?
Do I spend enough time with Him for His presence have an affect on my life?
Do I reflect His love to a hurting world?
Father,
You make me feel so special, that You would desire to be with me this morning. Breathe into me a desire to spend more time with You. Show me how I can cut something out of my schedule to have cuddle time with You. I know my life is from You and I desire to live my life to glorify You, in all I do. I love you LORD!
Amen
