Stay On Track

Jesus told him, “I AM the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14:6 NLT

Have you heard people talk about the different ways you can get to God? ‘He would never limit himself to one route; this religion can get you there or that one is even better.‘ ‘God is so good, there are many paths that lead to Him, not just one.’

Jesus is the way back to the Father and He is the only way. The Scriptures are very clear. As I was thinking on this verse my mind wandered to trains and train tracks. The tracks are laid down with a precise gauge and they can be only a certain degree of incline or decline. If they are not accurate, the train is in for a disastrous ride.

This is much like my walk with Jesus. If I don’t stay on the track laid down by Him, I will not reach my destination without some problems. If I try to turn when the track doesn’t, I will come off the rails. Or if I turn too tight, same result. If I try to go up too steep of a hill, I will run out of energy and back slide. If I try to go down too steep of a hill, I will be out of control.

I need to keep my eyes on the track, keep my eyes on Jesus, and my destination will come into the station with the conductor in charge!

Not sure which track to take?

The most important thing, spend some time in prayer, ask Jesus for direction, ask Him to guide your life. Ask for insight and be ready to listen. As you pray, realize that He isn’t going to give you the blueprint for your life right there and then. This is a lifetime adventure.

The track you may be on now at this time of your life, may not be the track you will take a few years down the road. If raising children is before you, know that is what Jesus is asking you to do. If school seems to be in the way, look at education as what He has in store for you right now.

Remember that God created you for a very specific plan. He placed in you a passion that will help you know what direction your life should be taking. If you’re afraid to ask Jesus to be your Savior because He might make you go to Africa to be a missionary, don’t be. He will not send you where you don’t have a passion to be. He wants you on fire for Him, not dreading where He may send you!

So look at what makes you excited, what makes your heart pound and your eyes light up. That will be a pretty good indicator of the track you’re supposed to be on at this time in your life. Even if you take the wrong track, Jesus will throw the switch and gently lead you to the right one!

Jesus is the only track that will lead your life back to the Father.

Jesus,
I thank You for being the conductor of my life. You are the Way, the Truth and the Life and I will keep my eyes on You. Help me to remember that You have laid my path out before me, You know the best way for me to travel and I will trust in You. I want to stay focused on You and enjoy my trip through this life!
Amen
