“And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Luke 11:9 & 10 NLT
Did you ever play the game ‘Knock, Knock’?
Have you heard a knock and asked ‘who’s there?’ Did you ever expect an answer like ‘Jesus’?
Did you ever answer ‘Jesus who’?
This may be a silly concept, but Jesus is knocking and asking to come in. He wants to be with you! The King of the Universe, the Creator, the Mighty I AM, wants to be with YOU!
He doesn’t just want to be your God; He wants to be your Companion, Counselor, Advocate, and Friend. He wants to spend His days with you.
What would it look like for Jesus to be your Companion? One dictionary states a companion is: a person with whom one spends a lot of time or with whom one travels.
Do you spend a lot of time with Jesus? Or is it a quick “Morning LORD” and off to work? Do you take Him with you in the car?
You can spend time with Jesus in the quiet of your heart and take Him with you wherever you go. He tells us that He will never leave us or forsake us.
How about a counselor? Do you even think you need one? Again, the dictionary states a counselor is: a person trained to give guidance on personal, social, or psychological problems.
I am in constant need of guidance, I couldn’t get through the day with Jesus guiding my choices.
Do you even need an advocate? According to Wikipedia, an advocate is: a type of professional lawyer in several different legal systems. I am a sinner. I don’t want to sin and hurt my LORD, but I do. I need forgiveness and I need lawyer in the Universe as I stand before God. Jesus is my Advocate.
Can you imagine Him as your friend? Psalm 25:14 says it all, “The LORD is a friend to those who fear Him. He teaches them his covenant.” He is your friend. Friends help you through the tough times. Friends will laugh with you during the silly times. Friends will dance with you in the joyful times. Jesus is your friend.
He is knocking and He is persistent. Please don’t wait any longer, ask Him to come into your life, spend some time with Jesus and listen to what He has to say. Answer the door and your life will never be the same again!
Knock, knock Who’s there? Iva.
Iva who?
I’ve a sore hand from knocking! Is it time to let Him in?
Jesus,
I have been keeping You out of my life. I feel like I need to clean things up, organize my time better or that the time will fall into place, then I can be with You. I want to stop all this and spend time with You, now. Show me where we can sit and You and I can chat. Tune my ears to Your voice so I can hear what You have to say to me. Show me how I need to spend time with You, to know You. Thank You for being so patient with me.
Amen
