After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters.
Genesis 5:22
I just love the story of Enoch. He was one of God’s special people, just like you and me! There isn’t a great deal about him in the Bible but from what is told about him, he was an exceptional man.
Enoch lived before the great flood. He was Noah’s great-grandfather. He had way more children than any of us would want to deal with. So what makes him special in my eyes?
He lived in close fellowship with God! Close fellowship, not just occasional relationship.
I’m ashamed to say I often fall into that occasional relationship no matter how hard I try. Life gets in the way and I’m lead away to easily. So how do I try and counteract my problem? I go to my Savior and ask for forgiveness. He helps me up, brushes me off and walks the journey with me. I also try and stay in the Bible each day.
As we move one day closer to the corss, I want to encourage you to be in your Bible. Maybe read a bit about Enoch in Genesis 5:21-24. He’s also in Hebrews in list of faithful servants of God. Think about what it would be like to walk closely with God!
Good Morning My Majestic LORD!
What a beautiful sunrise today! I praise You for nudging me out of my warm bed in time to see it with You. You are the greatest artist with the colors You use in the sky. It was breathtaking!
Your Word this morning is also wonderful. Father, how I would love to be notated in Your Book of Life, next to my name, that I live in close fellowship with You throughout my life. I praise You for telling me about Enoch and Noah and so many others, giving me the encouragement to stay with You and the passion to move closer as I my live. You are the breath I draw on, the wisdom I depend on and the love that makes my soul soar. What more in life do I need?
Amen
