Judges 6:36-40

Then Gideon said to God, “If You are truly going to use me to rescue Israel as You promised, prove it to me in this way. I will put a wool fleece on the threshing floor tonight. If the fleece is wet with dew in the morning but the ground is dry, then I will know that You are going to help me rescue Israel as You promised.” And that is just what happened. When Gideon got up early the next morning, he squeezed the fleece and wrung out a whole bowlful of water. Then Gideon said to God, “Please don’t be angry with me, but let me make one more request. Let me use the fleece for one more test. This time let the fleece remain dry while the ground around it is wet with dew.” So that night God did as Gideon asked. The fleece was dry in the morning, but the ground was covered with dew.

Good morning Yahweh,
What a wonderful Savior You are. From the very beginning of Your Word You have been calling us to live a life with You. And it seems, from the beginning of our lives we have been stiff-necked and wanting to go our own ways. You have never given up on us, always drawing us to You.

Your Word this morning is wonderful. You chose Gideon from a host of stronger and more important people. Just as You have choose me.

Yet, Gideon was insecure in Your calling. He wanted to make sure it was You telling him he would rescue Israel. How often have I felt that way too!

I want to do what You are telling me. I want to glorify You. I want to trust You.

But what if…that’s not You talking to me? What if it’s me or someone unsavory talking to me?

Thank You so much for Your gentle whispers in my ear right now. To make sure it’s You, all I have to do is return to Your Word. You cannot tell me one thing when the scriptures tell me another. If there’s a contradiction, then it’s not You.

Thank You for Gideon. I know I can question, that doubt is okay and through all this You will show me the truth. You truly are a wonderful God! I love You!
Amen
