2 Kings 18:3-4

He did what was pleasing in the LORD’s sight, just as his ancestor David had done. He removed the pagan shrines, smashed the sacred pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke up the bronze serpent that Moses had made, because the people of Israel had been offering sacrifices to it. The bronze serpent was called Nehushtan.

Good morning my LORD!
Thank You for meeting me here. In fact, You meet me where I am. Your desire to be with me humbles my heart and makes me love You all the more!

I so enjoy reading about Hezekiah. That he wanted to please You must have brought joy to You! I would like to live like he did and please You also.

It was a bold move for him to tear down and destroy all the pecan stuff Your people kept worshipping. I guess it always takes boldness to be Your disciple.

What caught my eye this morning is that he had to break up the bronze serpent that Moses had made when they were at Sinai and people were dying because of the snakes in the camp.

That story has always stuck with me as it reflected the crucification of Jesus thousands of years later. In Moses’ time all the people had to do was look up at the serpent on the pole and be healed.

At Jesus’ time, we all look up as He was raised on the cross and know and believe He was Your Son.

But, as usual, the people of Hezekiah’s time started worshipping the thing instead of their You, their Creator.

How many times do I worship the thing You created instead of You? Help me to destroy those idols and look only into Your eyes and worship You!
I love You!
Amen
