Then, calling the crowd to join His disciples, He said, “If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow Me.
Good Morning My Love!
Thank you for these moments of peace before the days begins. The holidays are upon us and even though I’m trying to keep from getting too busy, it seems like I’m falling behind in so many areas of my life. So I thank You so very much for waking me this morning to Your Grace and Mercy. Your presence right now is so very important to me.
Jesus, You say that if I want to be Your follower, I need to turn from my selfish ways. I’ve heard this verse so many times in my life and I’m still not very good at letting my stuff go and being more concerned with others. There are times I can say there is improvement, but not as many as I wish. Please forgive me and give me Your sight to see others before I see myself. Help me to know that You will give me the strength that I will need to be caring for others.
I’m not sure what taking up my cross means Jesus. Is it supposed to be a burden? You tell me to give all my burdens to You, so am I supposed to take them back? I don’t think so. I think for me taking up my cross means to be with You daily, in Your Word and in Your presence. I think to be Your disciple I need Your food and water daily so I have the strength to follow where You will lead. I become weak when I miss time with You. I want to give up my agenda to take up Yours, whatever it takes.
I want to be Your disciple Jesus, show me how.
Amen
