When the festival ended, the Israelites who attended went to all the towns of Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh, and they smashed all the sacred pillars, cut down the Asherah poles, and removed the pagan shrines and altars. After this, the Israelites returned to their own towns and homes.
Good Morning Father,
I know I always say it, but once again Your morning is beyond description. You have blessed me with so many birds that sing Your praise, Your breeze is like a gentle kiss on my cheek and Your presence with me now is the most beautiful experience of all.
I’m reminded this morning Father, Your chosen Israel had to go though clean up periods after clean up periods through their history. A generation would understand Your calling to be holy and set apart. The very next generation would slip back into the ways of the world. It seems to be the pattern of their lives.
Yet, as I read, You reminded me that I’m no different. I will walk closely with You for a day, a week, maybe even a whole month. Then I find that I have slipped back into the ways of my world. Please forgive me. My spirit wants so much more, but my flesh seems to be so much stronger. I know what’s it’s like to be in Your presence, I want to remain in Your presence all day today.
Please help me to clean out all the Asherah poles, pagan shrines and alters in my life. Please help me to see them through Your eyes, so I will understand why You despise them.
I would ask for Your protection over my life, and shine Your light on what is detestable to You, so I can ask for Your forgiveness.
I can’t do this by myself, LORD, I need Your Spirit. So please surround me and teach me Your ways, so I can glorify You with my very life!
I love You Father!
Amen
