Numbers 21:8-9

Then the Lord told him, “Make a replica of a poisonous snake and attach it to a pole. All who are bitten will live if they simply look at it!” So Moses made a snake out of bronze and attached it to a pole. Then anyone who was bitten by a snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed!

Morning Jesus!
Thank You so very much for the cooler mornings. It’s been a hot summer. So now, to sit outside with You and feel the gentle breeze brush against my skin is such a delight!

You never cease to amaze me with Your Words. Not one single syllable is wasted. And those that were written centuries ago, are still important for me to know, understand and believe in today.

When You sent the poisonous snakes into the camps of the Israelites for punishment, it is sometimes hard to grasp. Yet, on the heals of sending them into the camp, You gave them the remedy! What a remedy it was!

A replica of a snake on a pole. Who would have thought of that! Then all the people had to do was look up at the snake and they would be healed. The snaked didn’t heal them, Your power did. But, they had to look up.

You were giving us a preview of what You would have to do on the cross. In one small sense, all we have to do is look up and believe. Yet, when I look up into Your eyes, I am brought low with the weight of Your love for me. You took the cross just for me! Not only me, but for the world, past, present and future. What a demonstration of Your love!

Then I also realized that in looking at the snake and cross, You have also told me that You are above death. You defeated the snake, You are above even his evil doings. That gives me hope and security, my Love.

I want to look up into Your eyes and know that I matter to You! I want to love You with my life and for others to know just how special and important they are to You! Thank You for my life and I love You oh so much!
Amen!
