So Jacob told everyone in his household, “Get rid of all your pagan idols, purify yourselves, and put on clean clothing. We are now going to Bethel, where I will build an altar to the God who answered my prayers when I was in distress. He has been with me wherever I have gone.” So they gave Jacob all their pagan idols and earrings, and he buried them under the great tree near Shechem.
Good Morning Yahweh,
You are so wonderful, my words could never, ever give You the right praise. I am so limited to tell You how much You mean to me. I praise You for searching my heart and knowing what my mouth cannot say. I praise You for being my everything!
When am I going to learn, Father? I am no different than Jacob and his family was so many years ago. You command me to worship You and You alone. You tell me again and again not to collect idols. Yet, here I am again, knowing that I have placed ‘things’ in my life above You. I don’t mean for them to become idols, I may even think that You have blessed me with these ‘things’ to further Your Kingdom. Please forgive me Father, help me to bury my attitude toward them as Jacob buried the actual idols. And, the ‘things’ that I shouldn’t have in my life at all, please show me, so I can get rid of them.
You are so wonderful to teach me how I should live. You are so patient with my slow learning. It is my heart’s desire to please You and worship You and You alone!
Amen
